Electronic Pest Control
69Pests are just like germs, we are all vulnerable.
Ants, mice, termites, roaches, spiders – weather their scientific classification is insect, arthropod or rodent it is irrelevant when you see one on you living room wall, or dotting across your kitchen floor. The simple truth is, when they show up in your home they are all pest and nobody likes them. While it’s true that nobody likes a pest, they are part of life. Regardless of status: home owners, sub-letters, condominium and apartment dwellers are not safe from pest. Just like germs, they come and invade unprotected vessels and before you know it infestation occurs. If you have a crack or crevice along your base boards, you may have pest problems. Re-caulking the mortar could fix the visual problem but what if they are already in between your walls, breeding? Bug spray helps to rid the bugs but they also leave behind chemicals that might be of concern if you have small children or pets. Extermination is always an option, but that can cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Wouldn’t it be great if there were a safe, cost effective method for not only ridding pest but preventing them? Luckily there is, electronic pest control.
What is Electronic Pest Control?
Electronic Pest control is a system of pest control where either electromagnetic or ultrasonic powers are used to repel pests. This method is people, pet and environmental friendly, as well as scientifically proven.
Electromagnetic vs. Ultrasonic Pest Control
The ultrasonic models are typically plugged directly into wall outlets. Using a low wattage of electricity, these models emit high frequency sounds in audible to humans and pets (ultrasonic) but nerve wrecking to pest and insects. Because the sounds are so unbearable to the pests they will leave and refuse entry to the places that produce these sound waves. Electromagnetic pests control models offer similar results but use the electronic wiring of your home to create an invisible barrier between your home and pest. The barrier is created by transforming the signals carried in the electric currents flowing throughout your home. These modified currents irritate the nervous systems of pests and are produced in rapid cyclical patterns that do not allow pests the time to build immunity to them.
Testing For Effectiveness?
Yes, Electronic Pest control been tested in many capacities. As a form of pests intervention, it has been available since the early 1980’s and undergoing consumer testing since then. Like any other existing industry, it has experienced continued revisions and improvements. Over the years, the range of frequencies and levels of electromagnetic conversion have been increased in products. These levels are still harmless to people and pets. Case studies performed by both Kansas State University and Genesis Laboratories among others confirm the effectiveness of these products, citing significant visual agitation on the rodents used in these test.
What Are The Benefits?
One of the largest reasons to consider Electronic Pest Control is cost effectiveness. This option gives proven results at a fraction of the cost of exterminators. Pending size of property, extermination can cost thousands of dollars. It uses modern technology to transform your current electrical wiring into a form of pest protection. However, the benefits are more than financial. Other reasons to consider electronic pest control are:
No chemical usage- This alleviates worries about the effects on children and pets. Also there are no poisonous gases are released into the atmosphere.
No harmful residues left behind –With the traditional methods of extermination, harmful chemicals are used to achieve sometime minimal results. These chemicals often leave behind residues that can be hazardous to both people and pets.
Improved Air Quality- Some pest control mechanisms can improve air quality with built in air purifiers.
No additional, reoccurring bills – Extermination requires regular visits, electronic pest control is continuous. Once plugged in, it is working and does so until unplugged.
This is a great start to keep your home pest free!

I have never thought about an electronic pest repellor. We just bought some of the Ortho Kill and Contain mouse traps and they definitely didn't work. They only trapped the mice and never finished the job. The FTC is even looking at them for false advertising. ugh
