Teeth Whitening Cost

By

Staring in the mirror you notice your teeth are a little less white than you'd like them to be, sure you could run up to your local drug store and pay for a whitening kit, but how long will the results last? Whiter teeth have become an almost necessity in today's society, but the cost of having your teeth whitened can at times break the bank, so exactly how much does teeth whitening cost? Throughout this article you'll receive information on teeth whitening costs, not only from over the counter products, but from your dentist's office as well. Lets face it, when it comes to whitening our teeth we don't exactly want to break the bank, and you won't have to. Depending on what you can and can't afford, there is sure to be a solution best suited for your budget.

Dentists, dreaded by the common man when it comes to their wallets, but if you're like the many of people in the world today you want your smile to be a little bit brighter than average. What's the current cost of teeth whitening in a dentist's office? Oh, about $650 per visit, and there will be quite a few visits due in large part to the dentist only being allowed to administer so much bleach each visit. If you have the money though, then perhaps this is the best solution for you, but if not perhaps you should try an over the counter product to have your teeth whitened. One good thing about having your teeth whitened professionally though is, not only does the dentist know exactly how much bleach to administer to your teeth, but it's far less of a hassle in the long run.

Over The Counter Products

Another try and true method of whitening teeth would of course have to be, over the counter products, which you can pick up at any grocery store or pharmacy. A lot of these methods are cheaper at first, but over time they too can become expensive if you begin to make a habit out of whitening your teeth, say every couple of weeks or so. All the same here are some prices for some of the over the counter products, if you're looking to give them a try.

Crest White Strips

The cost of the Crest White Strips is about $25 and what they do is, form to your teeth, usually only your front six. You leave them on for about an hour, or you can get the overnight brand and leave them on at night while you're sleeping. All the same they work at whitening your teeth, but it’s been said that after 2 weeks, your teeth are generally only one shade brighter.

Listerine White Strips

These too only cost about $25 and have been found to work a lot better than the Crest White Strips. Just like the Crest brand, the Listerine strips adhere to your teeth and you usually leave them on for an hour. These strips have actually been proven to work a lot better than the Crest strips due to the Listerine which is right in the strip.

Paint On Gels

Another method that works well would be paint on whitener. A lot of brands offer these types of whiteners, such as Crest. The trick to the paint on whiteners is basically having to paint your teeth with the gel, these are by far the cheapest whiteners out there today. The average cost of gel whiteners you paint right on your teeth is, $8-9.

Gosmile

Yet another brand out there meant to whiten your teeth. This product is by far the most expensive over the counter whitener out there, truth be told you're better off just seeing the dentist. The average cost of Gosmile is anywhere between $99 - $200. The Gosmile product is like any other gel whitener out there, it's basically in a small glass tube, which you have to crack open, and you then rub it on your teeth.

Whitening Trays

You could also try tray whiteners, the average cost being anywhere between, $15-30 and unlike the gels and strips out there, you simply put the gel in a tray and place it over your teeth. You're able to not only eat and drink but speak easily, again unlike the gels and strip out there which you have to be careful eating, drinking, and talking when wearing.

Whatever method you decide upon know one thing, teeth whitening costs are always going to be pretty expensive no matter what method you choose. But if you're looking for a whiter smile in the long run, your best bet if you're working on a budget would have to be the paint on whitener because of how much cheaper it is than most. Again, just consider what you can and cannot afford and go from there.
